In-room Internet service: As you probably know, the AG hotel changed hands earlier this year. The "Adam's Mark" had free high-speed Internet in the sleeping rooms, but the "Sheraton" charges for this service. It has been confirmed that the Sheraton will honor our original contract with the Adam's Mark and provide free in-room Internet service for our registrants.
Mensa Marketplace: Tables are going fast, but it's not too late! If you would like the opportunity to display and sell your handcrafted wares at the AG, the deadline to send in your application is Monday, June 16. Beyond that date, please email Marketplace Coordinator Donna Jadis to inquire about availability. Visit the Mensa Marketplace page for more information.

Keynote dinner speaker Bruce Cameron will present "8 Simple Rules for Conquering All Obstacles, Overcoming Adversity, and Remaining Positive and Committed — Or Not" somewhere between the soup/salad course and the main course at the AG's Saturday night banquet. Ticketholders only. (You still have time to order a meal ticket!) Then, from 8:15 to 8:45 p.m., Cameron will sign autographs in the exhibit area outside the banquet room.
A New York Times best-selling author, Cameron has been seen on Oprah, NBC Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS Early Show, FOX news, CNN, Anderson Cooper, John Walsh, Wayne Brady, and many other local and cable television shows. His syndicated columns have been read by millions. He's a recipient of the prestigious Robert Benchley Award and was voted best humor columnist by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. His recent book, How To Remodel A Man, will soon be released as a television series.
The Mensa Foundation fund-raiser auction will take place from 8:30 to 8:45. Then master hypnotist Donald Rice will put on a show created just for Mensa. Rice puts as many as 20 volunteers under his power to do naughty, sexy, thrilling, funny things while you take a thrill ride of constant laughter. He has entertained throughout the world; you might have seen him in Vegas, on a cruise ship, on television or as a warm-up act for the "Dr. Phil Show."

Smoking at the AG: Now that the dust has settled following the Sheraton purchase of the Adam's Mark hotel, we have received official word that the Sheraton Denver is smoke free, including guest rooms. The hotel has designated smoking areas outside both main doors, but we will be unable to provide an indoor area for smoking. (We were already struggling to find options for smokers before the hotel sale, due to Colorado legislation that was enacted last year prohibiting smoking in most public areas.)

Mind Games® 2008 has come and gone, with a good selection of games. Participating games manufacturers agreed to donate copies of 30 of the 54 games judged to American Mensa (including four of the five that ultimately became Mensa Select® winners). These 30 games will help to stock the game room at the AG, and a few will be included in tournaments. The entries we are considering for tournaments are (* indicates Mensa Select winner):
Amuse/Amaze*
Black Box
Jumbulaya*
Pixel*
SetCubed
Tiki Topple*
The fifth winner, Eye Know, was a popular game and will be present in the games room, but it does not readily lend itself to tournament play.
The Mensa Marketplace is now taking applications! If you are a craftsman, artist, artisan or someone otherwise loaded with talent who would like the opportunity to display and sell your handcrafted wares at the AG, check out the application for the Mensa Marketplace.

Interested in running for national Mensa office or in the national election procedure? Three Nominating Committee (NomComm) meetings will take place on Thursday, July 3, at the AG:
9:30 to 10:30 a.m. — NomComm Procedure Meeting: This meeting is for all NomComm members attending the AG. It will go over the policies and procedures for the NomComm and will determine the questions to be asked of the candidates during the two "Meet the Candidates" sessions later in the day. All interested parties, whether NomComm members or not, are invited.
Noon to 4 p.m. — NomComm "Meet The Candidates," Session I: This is the first opportunity to meet the candidates for the American Mensa Committee. Each of the candidates will be invited to speak extemporaneously for a few minutes, followed by a brief Q&A. Everyone is welcome!
9 to 11 p.m. — NomComm "Meet The Candidates," Session II: During this session, currently elected RVCs interested in running for re-election to the same office are invited to meet with the NomComm and interested others. This replaces the afternoon session for these current officers. While less formal, this session is no less important and provides an opportunity to ask region-specific questions of the RVCs. Everyone is welcome!

Stop Smoking in One Hour As You Sleep in Your Chair, by Donald Rice
Attend this seminar and you can walk out of the room as a nonsmoker. Experience why smoking is an emotional habit and not an addiction, and learn why you can't out-think the smoking habit. Don's K.I.S.S. stop smoking session was developed through 30 years of hypnosis experience; thousands of smokers have paid $300 for one session in Don's Phoenix clinic, and 97 percent have walked out a nonsmoker. This very effective and valuable session is free. With that price and those odds, every smoker at the convention should attend. You are too smart not to attend, aren't you?
Donald H. Rice is a certified hypnotist, and his hypnosis school is approved by the AMA. Mr. Rice received the coveted "The Ormond McGill Award" from the National Guild of Hypnosis. Don is the past president and vice president of the Arizona Society for Professional Hypnosis and a faculty member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. He writes articles for three popular magazines and is often an exciting guest on radio and television.
